Vice-president of foundation

Leyla Ilham gyzy Aliyeva was born on July 3, 1985 in Moscow.

 

In 2000, she finished the high school, and entered the European Business School.

 

During 2006-2008, Leyla Aliyeva studied at the Moscow State International Relations Institute (MGIMO), and received a master’s degree.

 

Until 2010, she had been the chairperson of the Azerbaijanis Club at MGIMO.

 

Since May 10, 2007, Leyla Aliyeva has been the Head of the Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation.

 

On December 19, 2007, she founded the “БАКУ” magazine (Baku in Russian) in Moscow, and is its founder and chief editor.  

 

Leyla Aliyeva is the initiator of the campaign “Justice for Khojaly”, which started on May 8, 2008. 

 

Since May 2008, she has been a chief coordinator of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Intercultural Dialogue.

 

On April 18, 2009, Leyla Aliyeva was elected to the position of Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia.

 

As of 2011, she has been the Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

In July 2011, she was awarded “Taraggi” Medal for her contribution to the integration of our fellow countrymen into societies in foreign countries and for communicating Azerbaijani realities to the world.

 

On July 12, 2011, following Leyla Aliyeva’s initiative, IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union started its activity. 

 

In October 2011, she presented the English version of the magazine “BAKU” in London.

 

In November 2011, Leyla Aliyeva was awarded the “Key to Life” Prize in New York, for her active participation in humanitarian actions.

 

On November 22, 2011, she received a UN certificate and a special card.


In April 2012 and 2013, Leyla Aliyeva was honoured with the Special International Honorary Award for “Environmental Protection” by the Board of the Organizing Committee of the International Project Olympiad for Protection of the Environment.


On September 12, 2012, she was awarded the “For Services to Astrakhan Region” Prize.

 

On October 1, 2013, she was conferred on the Insignia of Saint Princess Olga of 3rd degree by order of Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus` Kirill. The insignia was presented on December 20, 2013 in the city of Astrakhan.


On December 19, 2013, Leyla Aliyeva was honoured with the Medal “For Services to Volgograd Region”.

 

In May 2015, Leyla Aliyeva was conferred on the title of a Goodwill Ambassador of UN Food and Agriculture Organization for her contribution to achieving such goals as combating hunger, ensuring food safety, increasing efficiency of agriculture, forestry and fishery, and creation of healthy food systems.

 

On May 22, 2015, she was conferred on the Prize "International Dialogue of the Year" for her effective activity in the field of protection of human health and the valuable contribution to the development of the international dialogue to ensure the ecological balance.


On 20 October 2015, she was awarded the Russian Federation's "Pushkin" Medal. On 4 November 2015, at a reception in honour of the People’s Unity Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the "Pushkin" Medal to Leyla Aliyeva.

 

On May 19, 2016, Leyla Aliyeva was presented a diploma of professor emeritus of the Moscow State University of Humanities and Economics.

 

On September 28, 2016, by a decision of the Moscow State International Relations Institute's Scientific Council, she was conferred on "Medal of Merit".

 

She is a mother of three kids.
