A cooperation agreement has been signed between the Romanian Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Romanian-American University

Supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Azerbaijan Research Centre was inaugurated under the Romanian-American University operating  in the city of Bucharest, Romania, October 21.

 

The ceremony was attended by rector of the university, academics, students, members of the Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Azerbaijan-Romania Culture and Youth Association, Romania-Azerbaijan Chamber of Trade and Industry, employees of SOCAR’s Representative Office  in Romania, Azerbaijanis living and studying in Romania, representatives of Turkish and Tatar communities, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and mass media.   

 

The event started with signing a cooperation agreement between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Romanian Representative Office and the Romanian-American University in the office of the University’s senate. At the end, the participants of the event attended the inauguration of the “Baku” room, in which the Azerbaijan Research Centre is located.

 

Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Romanian Representative Office Igbal Hajiyev informed the participants of the Centre’s objectives.  According to him, the Azerbaijani language will be taught at the Centre, and the Azerbaijani literature, culture and history will be popularized, Romanian students will be provided information of the development processes going on in the country.

 

Rector of the Romanian-American University Ovidiu Folcut highly appreciated the activity of the Foundation’s Representative Office in Romania, having thanked Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, for great importance she attached upon the Romanian-American University. The rector said the newly signed agreement and the new Azerbaijan Research Centre will serve the strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries further.

 

At the end of the event, a documentary reflecting Azerbaijan’s development and entitled “Development of Azerbaijan: From Oil to Industry” was demonstrated.
