An agreement for financial support was signed between Azerbaijan and UNESCO to restore the cultural sector of Haiti after the earthquake

An agreement for financial support was signed on October 27 within the 36th Session of UNESCO’s General Conference between Azerbaijan and UNESCO to restore the cultural sector of Haiti after the earthquake. According to the agreement, financial support in the amount of 50 thousand US Dollars would be spent, on the initiative of First Lady of Azerbaijan, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, to restore the cultural sites of Haiti located in a historical part of Jackmel city. It is expected that the project will commence in December of this year and finished in six months.


The agreement was signed by UNESCO General Director’s deputy for strategic planning Hans Dovril and permanent representative of Azerbaijan at UNESCO, Ambassador Eleanora Huseynova.


The Minister of Culture of Haiti, member of the Milli Majlis B.Aliyev, General Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO G.Afandiyeva, representatives of UNESCO’s relevant departments, representatives of Haiti and Azerbaijan permanent representations and representatives of media were present at the signing ceremony.
