Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani Government and UNESCO signed the agreement on implementation of the project envisaging development of vocational education in Azerbaijan

UNESCO, Azerbaijani Government and Heydar Aliyev Foundation signed on June 18 at Heydar Aliyev Foundation the agreement on implementation of the project envisaging development of vocational education in Azerbaijan.


Greeting the attendees of the ceremony Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, noted the Foundation led by her attaches special importance to the education, implements projects in this field. Talking of successful projects having been completed in frame of cooperation with UN and UNESCO Mrs Aliyeva noted importance of the project envisaging support to development of vocational education in Azerbaijan, expressed hope for successful realization of the agreement to be signed. She recalled participation of UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura at the Conference ‘UNESCO-Azerbaijan: Bridge to Future’ held at Gulustan Palace on August 24, 2005, in which education reforms in Azerbaijan, integration to European education system and other issues were discussed, joint memo signed. ‘Next summer our country will host Conference ‘Education for All’ to be organized jointly by UNESCO and during Conference days the opening of International Mugham Center in Baku will take place in presence of UNESCO Director General.’ Mehriban Aliyeva said.   


Education minister Misir Mardanov underlined for last 2 years up to 200 schools were built and commissioned in the republic within the programmes developed on initiative of President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, 29 children homes and boarding schools fundamentally repaired and supplied with modern equipment. The Minister said ‘President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gives big importance to renovation of vocational education in country, special state programme will soon be adopted in the field. The programme, and the agreement to be signed will start the new stage in development of vocational education.’ Noting the project developed according to the memo signed 2 years ago with UNESCO will cover tourism and hotel business M.Mardanov said it provides for construction and supply with equipment of the hotel meeting modern standards in next 2 years, training of teachers, making of textbooks and programmes, analysis and renovation of curriculums for tourism, IT, hotel business, English language, personnel qualification-lifting and training resources in field of vocational education. The project, totaled to 488,000 USD, will be executed due to funds of Azeri Government, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and Japanese Government.


Director General of UNESCO Moscow Office Dendev Badarch stressed wide-scale public and philanthropic actions of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its President Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva are highly evaluated by influential international entities, expressed confidence the new cooperation will have fruitful results.


‘Agreement on execution plan of ‘Funds-in-trust’ project’ was signed by President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, education minister Misir Mardanov and Director General of UNESCO Moscow Office Dendev Badarch.


Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Tadahiro Abe was present in the ceremony.
