The second international exhibition “From Waste to Art” is held following the initiative of and with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

The second international exhibition “From Waste to Art” is being held at “Qala” State History and Ethnography Preserve following the initiative of and with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation  and organizational support from “Clean City” OJSC, “Maiden Tower” Gallery and “Icherisheher” SHCPD.

Tens of artists from around the world are demonstrating their works of art that will make people think once more before throwing old items out and  transform useless items into a peace of art.

Unlike the first exhibition “From Waste to Art” held in June last  year in Gala settlement, the format of this year’s exhibition allows to watch live the process of transforming waste into a ready peace of art. In general 24 artists, including 8 from Azerbaijan, are working on their pieces of art right at the exhibition site.

Along with Azerbaijani artists, representatives of art from countries such as France, Italy, United Kingdom, USA, Japan, Benin, Albania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Israel, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Russia have joined this international exhibition.

The participants will work on their pieces of art until June 20th, and on the same day the official closure of the exhibition will take place.

The primary objective of the exhibition is to divert people from squandering and make them think once more before throwing out old items they possess to waste bins. The participants are making interesting pieces of art using very basic and useless materials – metal, paper, plastic mass, rubber product and various domestic wastes.

Busses have been allocated by the organizers for those wishing to visit the exhibition to travel to and from the “Qala” State History and Ethnography Preserve. Visitors travel to the Preserve on busses that will depart from a station before the Gosha Gala Gates (Icherisheher) at 12:00 and 15:00 each day until June 19th.

This international event is held within the framework of the enlightenment program of a pilot project being implemented by “Clean City” OJSC in Gala Settlement following the initiative and with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to build  the waste management system being implemented in Gala settlement to modern standards.
