Cleaning day under the slogan “For Cleanness” held in Shuvalan and Qala settlements by the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Cleaning day under the slogan “For Cleanness” was held in Shuvalan and Qala settlements of Khazar district by Khazar Development Fund and “Tamiz Shahar” JSC jointly with pupils from secondary schools by the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, September 25.

More than 200 pupils and teachers from schools 156, 230 and 237 of Shuvalan settlement and School 185 of Qala settlement participated in the action.

In order to organize thoroughly enlightening and effective action for pupils the participants were provided information about solid municipal wastes, their negative impacts on environment, waste types, the methods of their utilization, recycling of wastes and the works done in the sphere in Azerbaijan and in the capital.

Within the action, various plastic bottles and packages, paper, pasteboard and organic wastes were cleaned out in Qala State History and Ethnography Preserve and the whole territory was removed from the wastes. The recyclable paper, glass and plastic wastes collected during the cleaning day were accepted by “Tamiz Shahar” JSC and directed to recycling.

During the action on Shuvalan beach, pupils took part in the competition “The School Collecting Most Waste”. Taking the first place, School 156 was presented a set of computer. All participants received precious prizes.

“Tamiz Shahar” JSC Board Chairman Zakir Ibrahimov said action “Let Us Clean Our Planet of Wastes” is held in the world in the last week of every September. Series of measures are taken in the country in 2010 – the Year of Ecology.

He thanked Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the initiative and support, noted significance of such actions in enlightenment of the youth.

The speakers talked about importance of such actions for the society, emphasized significance of cleanness in everyday life.
