President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers and his spouse Lilita Zatlers visit the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

August 10, President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers and his spouse Lilita Zatlers visited the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

They were welcomed here by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva.

President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva briefed them on the aims and actions of the Foundation which was established in memory of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Latvian leader and his spouse were told the Foundation carries out large-scale projects in all spheres, in particular reconstruction of children homes and boarding schools, improving their logistics, care to the people suffering from diabetes and thalassemia, construction of new modern schools, study and propaganda of the national culture.

The visitors saw pictures reflecting interior of the great leader’s office, honor certificates he was awarded during his activity and documents, speeches he made at international organizations on Azerbaijan realities.

They were familiarized with numerous documents reflecting the very various moments of the genius person’s life and creating a detailed idea of the entire history of Azerbaijan, gifts presented by world-famous figures of politics, books on the national leader, views said by prominent figures of science, culture and art on the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan. 

President Valdis Zatlers and his spouse Lilita Zatlers signed the guest book.

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva gave a keepsake to the Latvian President.

The Presidents and their spouses watched a film about the Foundation`s activity.

The distinguished guest left the Foundation under rich impressions.
