Conference “Burning Flame – Impressions of Azerbaijan” was held in Bucharest

Conference “Burning Flame – Impressions of Azerbaijan” was held March 29 at the Agronomy and Medical Sciences University in Bucharest. The event was initiated and supported by Bucharest Writers Association, Romania Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Embassy of Azerbaijan in this country.


Chairperson of Bucharest Writers Association, Dr Horia Girbea shared his impressions of Azerbaijan and presented a photo exhibition. He talked of painful consequences of Armenian aggression to Azerbaijan, assessing Khojaly genocide as one of the bloodiest tragedies committed in XX century by Armenian armed forces. The Romanian writer mentioned facts on the January 20 incidents and mass cemetery in Guba.   

 

H.Girbea underlined writers of Armenian origin at the Romania Writers Union expressed anxiety about his views saying Armenia was not the first country where Christianity was declared the official religion and earlier Christianity monuments were discovered in Azerbaijan.

 

Books by Azeri authors translated into Romanian language due to support of the Embassy and Romania Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and booklets from series ‘True Facts about Garabagh’ developed by Heydar Aliyev Foundation were distributed to the participants, questions from attendees on Azerbaijan were replied.

 

Head of Romania Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Igbal Hajiyev, management of Romania Writers Union, Bucharest Writers Association, Agronomy and Medical Sciences University, diplomats having worked at the Romanian Embassy in Azerbaijan, reps of Azeri diaspora, more than 200 students and undergraduates of the University partook in the Conference.


Dr Horia Girbea said he was intended to organize analogical events at other higher schools in Romania.
