Azerbaijan is represented at a charity fair in Beijing with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Azerbaijan was represented at a charity fair called “Love Knows No Borders”, traditionally held in Beijing, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, enjoying organizational support from the Embassy of Azerbaijan in China.

Organized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), the event aimed at providing material support by directing the incomes derived from the sales of souvenirs, cuisine examples, products and goods related to cultures of various nations to humanitarian projects being implemented in China.

Pavilions of about a hundred countries and international organizations participated in the exhibition-fair organized following the initiative of Qian Wei, a member of the State Council of China, the spouse of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Various exhibits related to the Azerbaijani culture, including examples of clothing, souvenirs and handicrafts were demonstrated in a spacious pavilion prepared by the Azerbaijani Embassy in China, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. One of the two biggest pavilions at the fair, the Azerbaijani pavilion put to sale sports T-shirts, scarfs, bags, aragchyns, caps, kelaghayis with the description of symbols related to Azerbaijan, as well as dishes of the Azerbaijani cuisine, such as plov, dolma, kebab, kyu-kyu, mangal salad, gutab, baklava and shekerbura, agricultural produces made under the brand name “Made in Azerbaijan”, including wines and cognacs, compotes, jams, dry fruits, honey, tea, as well as pomegranate and quince.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan’s popular and composer’s songs were presented by Honoured Artist Shahriyar Imanov, accompanied by his group, pieces from works by European composers, as well as national dances by a dance group.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his spouse visited the Azerbaijani pavilion and watched our national dances. Mrs Qian Wey joined the “Yally”.

Minister Wang Yi tasted an Azerbaijani wine, thanking the Azerbaijani side for actively participating in the charitable action.

In the course of a day, Beijing residents and visitors of the fair demonstrated great interest towards the products put to sale in the Azerbaijani pavilion, especially dishes of Azerbaijan’s national cuisine, and the Azerbaijani pomegranate.

A concert programme arranged by Azerbaijani masters of art aroused special interest in the visitors. It is no accident that visitors of the fair gathered around the Azerbaijani musicians, listened to their performances, even joined our dances in the course of a few hours of fair.

The funds collected at the fair visited by over 15 thousand people were transferred to the fund created to support implementation of charitable projects.
