An exhibition at UNESCO devoted to Azerbaijani carpets

An exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets was opened at UNESCO, April 19, 2011. First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova attended the exhibition.

All directions of the Azerbaijani carpet making school by geographical location, patterns, colour solution and technical features were presented at the exhibition. Presented at the exhibition, samples of the Garabagh carpet making school have once more proved that Garabagh has always been an Azerbaijani land.

Samples of works by Azerbaijani people’s artist Tahir Salahov on a carpet were also presented at the exhibition.

The opening ceremony was followed by a grandiose concert program by young talents of Azerbaijan.
