An exhibition and concerts devoted to Azerbaijan’s culture and art were organized within the framework of the project “Cultural Values of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus” in French cities of Reims, Châlons-en-Champagne, Niort, Cognac and Romorantin-Lanthenay, with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France, October 19th to November 12th.
Exhibits related to our country’s old and rich history and culture – copper works, lattices, Azerbaijani national garments, national music instruments, Azerbaijani carpets and samples related to other directions of the popular art - were displayed, and books and booklets published in French for our country’s promotion, as well as samples of Azerbaijani literature were presented at the events held with the objective of promoting Azerbaijan in France, providing the French with more comprehensive information of the rich historical and cultural values of Azerbaijan and strengthening the cultural ties between the two countries. Azerbaijani music was sounded by masters of art and national dances performed by dance groups.
The first event associated with the project was held in the city of Reims on October 19. Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Mayor of the city of Reims Adeline Hasan attended the ceremony.
A concert of Azerbaijan’s State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev directed by People’s Artist Teymour Goychayev was organized at the Reims Conservatoire on the exhibition’s inauguration.
