Azerbaijan at a congress of the International Union of Architects

A regular congress of the International Union of Architects (IUA) took place in Soul. Considered to be the biggest international event in the field of architecture, the congress was attended by over 10 thousand participants, representing 124 countries, including architects, government officials, people of science, and students. Organizers of the congress, called the “Architectural Olympiad”, were the International Union of Architects, the Soul Municipality, and the Korean Federation of Architectural Institutes.

 

Azerbaijan participated in the congress with an extensive delegation, supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

An event dedicated to Azerbaijan took place on September 10, 2017, in the framework of the General Assembly of the International Union of Architects.

 

A documentary about Azerbaijan’s history, its natural beauties, cultural heritage, and historical and contemporary architectural monuments was demonstrated.

 

At the exhibition held in the framework of the congress, a wide corner and a pavilion called “Baku at the crossroads of the eastern and western architecture” functioned, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

Means promoting Azerbaijan’s history, culture, art, architecture, literature and tourism capacity, including various publications, carpets and national garments, music instruments, models of Baku’s historical and contemporary architectural monuments, handicrafts, and souvenirs with national ornaments were demonstrated in the pavilion, and the corner. In addition, video films related to Azerbaijan, its history, sightseeing, contemporary development, culture, architecture, international events hosted by Azerbaijan, events organized by First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation within the country and abroad towards promoting Azerbaijan’s culture, as well as tolerance and multiculturalism values of Azerbaijan were presented.

 

In the framework of the congress was also held an “Azerbaijani Evening” by the Azerbaijani Union of Architects and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the South Korea, supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. At the evening, a photo exhibition reflecting Azerbaijan’s history, samples of its modern architecture and natural beauties of Azerbaijan was arranged, and guests were presented various publications of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation about Azerbaijan.

 

At the “Azerbaijani Evening”, a concert programme consisting of our national dances by Mirvari Dance Group, and Azerbaijani ethno-jazz music by tarzan Shahriyar Imanov and his group was presented. Moved by the charming Azerbaijani music, guests danced “Yally” together with our dancers.

 

Dishes of the Azerbaijani cuisine were also presented at the official reception.
