Azerbaijan was represented at COP28, the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), by a pavilion.

The national pavilion, created by the joint organizational activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources within the framework of COP28, covered the theme “Pioneering sustainable solutions for climate resilience”.

The pavilion’s concept was built on the rich flora and fauna of Azerbaijan.

At the pavilion created in an interactive format, information was provided about Azerbaijan’s policy on climate change, measures taken by the Azerbaijani government towards reducing greenhouse gases released into atmosphere, its activity on mitigation and adaptation, and other projects in this sphere.

Sections such as “Energy Transition”, “Environmental Map”, “Renewable Energy”, “Smart Village” etc. functioned at the pavilion. Created in an interactive format, Azerbaijan’s Environmental Map reflected National Parks, Climate Types, Renewable Energy, Water Resources, and Green concept. Each theme presented the map of Azerbaijan with detailed information about the existing infrastructure and future projects. The installation at the pavilion covered also the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan, climate initiatives and combatting landmines.

In the section “Plant a Tree” of the pavilion were presented the tree planting initiatives carried out in Azerbaijan, in Karabakh in particular, aiming to restore the ecological balance disturbed during the occupation by Armenia.
