5th Mugham TV Contest
From 16th February to 29th May 2015, the 5th Mugham TV Contest took place, based on a project by the Azerbaijan Culture Foundation, with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, organizational support of the Azerbaijani Television, and participation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
20 young singers chosen from among some 500 contenders, who had joined selection rounds held in Barda, Shamakhy and Baku, participated in the contest.
Winner of the contest, which lasted four month, was chosen Nisbat Sadrayeva. Mahabbat Safarov and Sadaf Budagova were honoured with the second and third places respectively.
The contest was broadcast live on the Azerbaijan Television and Radio and the Culture Channel.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been holding the Mugham TV Contest since 2005 with a view to preserving the art of mugham, conveying the art of performance with a rich history to future generations, and bringing up a new population of singers.
