Uzeir Hajibeyli 9th International Music Festival

Uzeir Hajibeyli 9th International Music Festival took place during 18-26 September, 2017 in Baku.

 

Well-known music bands from Russia, USA, Israel, Germany, Turkey and Georgia performed with interesting concert programmes in the festival, along with those from Azerbaijan, held with joint organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

 

On September 18, an opening ceremony of the festival took place in the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after M.Magomayev. The ceremony was opened by an overture from the opera “Koroghlu” by the composer-genius, performed by the State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeir Hajibeyli (artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra was People’s Artist Rauf Abdullayev).

 

Works of local and foreign composers were performed at the evening, by the State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeir Hajibeyli.

 

In general, over 30 events were realized during the festival. A concert programme by the Novorossiysk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra (Russia) under the leadership of People’s Artist Eyyub Gouliyev was presented. The programme included also such works as “Concerto Iolanta” sixth piano-forte concert by Rodion Shchedrin, “Daneliada” by Giya Kancheli, “Fratres” by Avro Pärt, as well as “Metamorphosis” by Firangiz Alizadeh, which were performed for the first time.

 

The festival ended on September 26. Germany’s Munich Academic Orchestra performed at the closing ceremony. People’s Artist Murad Adygozalzadeh was the soloist of the concert, realized under the artistic leadership of young conductor Fuad Ibrahimov.
