On December 27, 2016, inauguration of the exhibition “Doll in Art” took place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.
Held with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the exhibition displayed 230 dolls, handicrafts of 60 artists-sculptures from 16 countries. These works of art are samples of a collection consisting of over 400 exhibits, in total.
Handicrafts of renowned artists-doll makers from Azerbaijan, USA, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Belarus, France, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Northern Cyprus, Indonesia, Ukraine and Japan were presented at the exhibition.
Majority of the art works being displayed at the exhibition were made in one only copy, and have high artistic value. Most of these works were winners of international doll festivals and biennales.
Along with traditional dolls made of porcelain, paper, plastic, wood and fabric, modern dolls made using state-of-art technology were also presented. Dolls at the exhibition were divided by 11 different types. So, the exhibition features exhibits in such themes as dress history, comic characters, holiday images, people of Icherisheher, fairy-tale characters, wood dolls and others.
