During the period from May 12 to May 14, 2022, the 5th Kharybulbul International Folk Festival was held in Shusha city – the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.
The 5th Kharybulbul International Folk Festival was organized with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Culture Ministry, and the Shusha City State Reserve.
Musicians performing in different folk styles from foreign countries, dance groups, as well as folk music bands from various regions of Azerbaijan joined the Festival.
The Festival’s inauguration concert started with the “Suite of Homeland”, performed by the State Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikret Amirov. Honoured artists Ilkin Ahmadov, Babek Niftaliyev, Sabina Arabli, People’s Artist Polad Bulbuloghlu, the Turkic World Music and Popular Dances Ensemble of Turkey, Sheikh Tidiane Sek Ethnic Jazz Group of Mali, Georgian Folk Dance Ensemble “Melitassi”, “Yuma” Duet of Tunisia and “Bakhor” State Dance Ensemble of Uzbekistan performed at the concert.
National dances and the art of mugham were presented, concerts of folk groups of various regions and national minorities of the country were held, a video with performances of Azerbaijani khanendehs filmed in different years in Shusha was shown, and classical music works was presented within the framework of the Festival.
