Opening of the exhibition “Flight to Baku” was held in Berlin

A ceremony of opening of Azerbaijani Modern Art exhibition entitled “Flight to Baku” was held at famous “Collector Rooms” exhibition centre in the German capital with joint organization support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany and the “Baku International” magazine. Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the exhibition.


Influential persons, people of art of Germany and guests from various countries of the world attended the opening.


Addressing the opening ceremony, Leyla Aliyeva informed the guests of the “Flight to Baku” exhibition. Foundation’s Vice-president noted that so far this exhibition has been held in various capitals of the world including London and Paris, and was welcomed with much interest.  Held with joint organization support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany and the “Baku International” magazine, the exhibition is very rich. Actually all  directions of the Azerbaijani modern art have been reflected here. 94 works by 21 artisan are displayed at the exhibition.


Leyla Aliyeva noted that, amazing today the whole world with its rapid development and progress, Azerbaijan is a country with ancient and  rich history. She said the Azerbaijani built the first democratic republic in the whole Muslim Orient, created first ballet and opera in the Orient  and made a number of great achievements. The guests were told that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the “Baku” magazine have done significant works to promote Azerbaijan.  


Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva said: “Azerbaijan is such a country, where different cultures, nations and religions coexist peacefully as in a single family.  We are very proud of this fact. No doubt, art has been a significant part of Azerbaijan’s life and culture. I invite each of you to Azerbaijan. Come and discover our country with your own eyes”.


Then curator of the Exhibition Hervé Mikaeloff, President of the Weimar  Music University Kristof Stolz noted that the holding of the “Flight to Baku” exhibition, which had been held in various countries of the world, in Berlin introduced Azerbaijan as a secular, developing country with rich culture.


Director of Germany’s Northern Africa and Near East State Centre Udo Steinbach said:


- The exhibition presented Azerbaijan as a European country with a developed modern art, in addition to the development of cultural relations between Germany and Azerbaijan. I liked it very much.


Another guest attending the ceremony – Mujgan Ahrari - underlined:


- The exhibition proved that Azerbaijani artists have universal values. Their moral environment is very rich and they share secular values.


Expressing her impression of the exhibition, Michel-Victor Adamski said:


- I knew  Azerbaijan had rich music and poetry. And now I discovered Azerbaijan as a country of modern art.


The exhibition will continue until November 17, as in other cities of the world, decently promote Azerbaijan in the German capital and arouse more interest towards our country.
