1st Azerbaijan International Haematology Specialists Congress gets underway in Baku

The 1st Azerbaijan International Haematology Specialists Congress, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the commencement of the Thalassemia Centre’s activity, started its work in Baku, May 22.

 

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.

 

Executive director of the Thalassemia Centre Valeh Huseynov, chairperson of the National Assembly’s healthcare committee Ahliman Amiraslanov, deputy chairperson of the International Thalassemia Federation Michael Angastiniotis, representative of the Turkish Academy of Sciences – TUBA – Taner Demirer, chairperson of the Turkish Haematology Circle Hayri Ozsan and professor of the Koch University Hospital Burhan Farhanoghlu spoke at the opening ceremony of the congress, held with organizational support of the Health Ministry, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Thalassemia Centre, and the Azerbaijan Haematology Specialists’ Public Association.

 

Speaking at the event, scientific secretary of the congress Ramin Bayramly gave information about the congress, noting that 939 people from 22 countries were participating in the congress, and 146 reports were presented.

 

Then, panel sittings took place and reports were heard.

 

The congress will continue until May 25th with section meetings.
