The 2nd International Art Festival ‘Gyz Galasy’ organized at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation ends

The 2nd International Art Festival ‘Gyz Galasy’ held in Icherisheher in Baku has ended, July 1.


Daughters of President Ilham Aliyev – Heydar Aliyev Foundation VP Leila Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva attended the closing ceremony.


25 famous artists from 20 countries participated in the 3-day Festival organized by ‘Icheri Sheher’ State History and Architecture Reserve Administration, Museum of Modern Art and ‘Gyz Galasy’ Art Gallery at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


Chief of ‘Icheri Sheher’ State History and Architecture Reserve Administration Mikayil Jabbarov said the Festival, which is arranged traditionally, aims at the promotion of Gyz Galasy (Maiden Tower), the one of the most ancient monuments in Azerbaijan. He mentioned a work of art by Azerbaijan`s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was displayed in the last year’s Festival and this year a work by Leila Aliyeva is exhibited in the Festival.


According to Mr Jabbarov, decorating models of the Maiden Tower in their own national styles, the artists representing different countries created works of art reflecting the synthesis and the mutual exchange of different cultures and traditions. The exhibition consisting of the works of these artists was held in Icherisheher for Baku residents and visitors. Additionally, the unique works by these artists will be exhibited in several different countries around the world and will become an important tool to promote the Maiden Tower as a part of the World Heritage.


Also, as a tool of communication between residents of Baku and participant artists, the Festival contributed to the intercultural dialogue. The Chief of ‘Icheri Sheher’ State History and Architecture Reserve Administration expressed gratitude to Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, for supporting the Festival.


Skaydra Yanchaite, the participant from Lithuania, performed Lithuanian and Azerbaijani music.


Chief Executive of the Museum of Modern Art Jeyhun Aghakishibayli talked of the care Heydar Aliyev Foundation renders in the past years to the development of art and culture, underlined the importance of the Festival for the protection of history and national heritage.


Director of Mexico`s Museum of Modern Art Osvaldo Sanchez, Head of Karvan Art Gallery of Uzbekistan, Art Critic Natalya Musina mentioned Heydar Aliyev Foundation attaches huge importance to the development of the national culture and intercultural dialogue, noted the Festival was organized on the high level.


‘Gyz Galasy’ Art Gallery’s Manager Emin Mammadov highly valued the Festival bringing artists from various countries together.


Then, attendees of the ceremony saw the works exhibited. The authors informed of the works.


Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Vice President Leila Aliyeva spoke about her work of art, which says everything obeys the time, and on the other hand, this philosophical vision relates not to everything.


The participants much appreciated the work by Leila Aliyeva.
