Mehriban Aliyeva met with Robert Wexler, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe within the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the USA Congress

President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, head of the working group on Azerbaijan-US Inter-Parliamentary Relations Mehriban Aliyeva on 9 January met with Robert Wexler, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe within the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the USA Congress.


Noting his first visit and pleasure he felt in Baku, Robert Wexler said the US Congress pays particular attention to the South Caucasus region, stressing development of Azerbaijan, religious tolerance here to be example for other world countries.

 

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva highly assessed current visit of the US delegation, noting successful development of relations between the two countries in all fields.

 

First Lady spoke of importance of the projects being realized with the support of the United States, religious tolerance in the country, and noted the necessity of activating of the efforts to deepen bilateral relations.

 

In the meeting, also discussed were the questions on solution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Daghlig Garabagh conflict, the chances for elimination of the 907 Section to the Freedom Support Act and current situation in the country.
