Mehriban Aliyeva met with spouse of President of Georgia Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs

Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs, spouse of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, visited on 11 January the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Member of Parliament Mehriban Aliyeva warmly greeted the guest.

The first ladies had a private talk.

Then they continued the meeting at presence of delegations.

Mehriban Aliyeva expressed delight of seeing Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs in Baku again.

Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs on successful ending of the presidential elections in Georgia, saying there is warm attitude in Azerbaijan towards neighbor Georgia and elections were attentively pursued here too. She wished successes and welfare to the people of Georgia.

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva gave comprehensive information on the activities of Foundation created in memory of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. It was noted main goals of the Foundation is to study and propagate rich political legacy of famous political figure Heydar Aliyev, create an obvious idea in foreign visitors and future generations on his large-scale activity towards socio-economic and cultural progress of Azerbaijan, support international projects started by the genius person, help the works implemented in field of wide propaganda of Azeri culture and history. The Foundation also performs large-scale projects, makes contribution to realization of the national leader’s dreams. Mrs Aliyeva talked of works done in field of reconstruction of children homes and boarding schools, improving their logistics, doing multilateral help to children deprived of parental care, help to people suffering from diabetes and thalassemia, construction of new schools, teaching the disabled children to work with IT, study and propaganda of rich culture of Azerbaijan, said Thalassemia Center is under construction.

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva recalled valuable talks and consultations were held with Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs in previous meetings on establishing and developing the mutual relations, arranging joint events, exchanging experience, expressed confidence current meeting also will have positive impact on relations between two countries and nations that are always in high level.

Mrs Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs expressed gratitude for kind and sincere words, noted that she also heads non-governmental organization in Georgia, underlining the necessity of expansion of further ties with the Foundation.

Mrs Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs noted interesting program of her visit, the chance to closely familiarize herself with the friendly country and rich impressions from the meeting with the First Lady of Azerbaijan.
