Mehriban Aliyeva met with State Secretary of Vatican, Cardinal Tarcizio Bertone
Delegation led by State Secretary of Vatican, Cardinal Tarcizio Bertone visited Heydar Aliyev Foundation, March 7.
Guests were informed of objectives and activities of the Foundation established in memory of national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, as well exhibits taken from the archive of the great leader.
It was noted main goals of the Foundation is to study and propagate rich political legacy of famous political figure Heydar Aliyev, create an obvious idea in foreign visitors and future generations on his large-scale activity towards socio-economic and cultural progress of Azerbaijan, support international projects started by the genius person, help the works implemented in field of wide propaganda of Azeri culture and history. The Foundation also performs large-scale projects.
Cardinal Tarcizio Bertone and his delegation were familiarized with numerous documents reflecting the very various moments of genius person’s life and creating a detailed idea of the entire history of Azerbaijan, books on the national leader.
Cardinal Tarcizio Bertone signed Guest Book of the Foundation.
Then, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, met with State Secretary of Vatican, Cardinal Tarcizio Bertone.
Expressing pleasure of greeting the guest at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated him on the official opening of the catholic church in Baku.
Valuing opening of the catholic church in Baku as the historical event President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation said in the world, which is not tranquil, Azerbaijan is the exemplary country from point of tolerance. Opening of the catholic church in the capital of Azerbaijan is the sign of this.
M.Aliyeva emphasized people of different religions have lived in friendship in Azerbaijan throughout the centuries. There is no discrimination in Azerbaijan for religion, language, nationality and race of people. This is the attitude of the people and state of Azerbaijan to other religions and nations.
Thanking for warm reception Tarcizio Bertone shared his impressions of visit to Azerbaijan.
The State Secretary of Vatican highly assessed tolerance he saw in Azerbaijan, underlined the fact that people belonging to different religions live in peace.
T.Bertone highly valued the attitude of the people and state of Azerbaijan towards other nations and religions. Connecting this tolerance to the mentality of the Azerbaijanis he stressed this is evidently seen in the action of the President of the country too.
