Mehriban Aliyeva meets with Director General of World Health Organization Margaret Chan

Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, paying a visit to Geneva to attend the WHO 60th session sitting, met on May 17 with Director General of World Health Organization Mrs Margaret Chan.

Highly valuing WHO-Azerbaijan cooperation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva stressed support of WHO in implementation of a number of projects, mentioned firm cooperation in fight with bird flu and realization of other programmes.

Recalling her visit to Azerbaijan Mrs Margaret Chan highly assessed works done in Azerbaijan in field of healthcare, said cooperation between WHO and Azerbaijan will be continuing. The director general much appreciated the services of Mrs Aliyeva in field of health, like education and culture.

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva invited WHO Director General Mrs Margaret Chan to visit Azerbaijan, the invitation was accepted with pleasure.

Azerbaijani health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev was present in the meeting.
