Mehriban Aliyeva meets with Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General Nafis Sadik

Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, met on December 14 with Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General, Special Envoy of the Organization for HIV/AIDS in Asia and Pacific Nafis Sadik

Informing of multilateral action of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva said the Foundation created in May 2004 implements huge projects in the fields of education, health, sport. It places a special emphasis on the health projects, firmly cooperates with lots of organizations.

Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the UNDP Office in Baku jointly implement the project aimed at providing blind and visually impaired persons with an access to the information technologies. Under the project, a special center has been built. M.Aliyeva said the Foundation is ready to hardly work to fight HIV/AIDS.

Noting AIDS is one of major problems disturbing the whole world Nafis Sadik, who will attend Conference ‘Youth Against AIDS’ in Baku on December 15, stressed the need to combine efforts of all groups of the society to fight AIDS. He said it is important to raise awareness of the population about this disease.
