Mehriban Aliyeva met with the delegation led by Minister of Culture and Communication of France Frederic Mitterrand

First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met with the delegation led by Minister of Culture and Communication of France Frederic Mitterrand, who was on a visit to Azerbaijan, March 9.

First the guests were familiarized with the exposition at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation reflecting the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The delegation was informed of the objectives and activity of the Foundation created in memory of national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.

The guests familiarized themselves with exhibits and photos taken from the private archive of person of genius Heydar Aliyev and covering different periods of his activity. The delegation watched with great interest the exposition, which showed what a phenomenal person, skilful diplomat, eminent political figure and noble man national leader Heydar Aliyev was.

After familiarization with the Foundation, the delegation led by Minister of Culture and Communication Frederic Mitterrand met with First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva.

Welcoming the guests at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva said she was pleased to see them here.

During the meeting, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation informed that an exhibition entitled “Plaisirs de France” would be opened and works related to the most grandiose museums of France presented here, March 10. First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva underlined that this exhibition is an essential event in the cultural life of Azerbaijan.

“I am glad the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been closely cooperating with cultural organizations of France along with our state organizations” said Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva and noted that Azerbaijan has always enjoyed support by Minster Frederic Mitterrand in France. The First Lady of Azerbaijan thanked the minister for such support.

The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation said she was pleased to know that, in addition to Paris, cultural events associated with Azerbaijan were held in other regions of France too, and emphasized that holding of a number of events in other regions of France is expected until the end of this year. Saying “No doubt, objective of all of these events, meetings is to make peoples of Azerbaijan and France closer  to each other”, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva informed of the exhibition to be held in April of this year in Paris entitled “Flight to Baku” and invited minister Frederic Mitterrand to the exhibition.

Minister of Culture and Communication of France Frederic Mitterrand expressed his gratitude for the meeting with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

Recalling the last year’s visit by the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to France, Frederic Mitterrand underlined the meetings held would contribute to the friendship between our countries.

Mentioning that the cultural sphere was one of the priority directions in the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, he talked of the essence of this sphere.

The Minister of Culture and Communication of France thanked Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for the support in organization of the “Plaisirs de France” exhibition in Baku.
