Meetıng with the delegation led by UN FAO Director General José Graziano da Silva

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met with the delegation led by Director General of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, May 25.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva underscored the years-long successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN Food and Agriculture Organization and said this visit would contribute to strengthening of the relations further. Noting that the humanitarian sphere was a priority area in the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s activity, Mehriban Aliyeva talked about the possibility of implementing joint projects.  The First Lady said food safety is attached much importance in Azerbaijan and a number of programmes have been realized in this filed, and that the experience of UN Food and Agricultural Organization could be useful.

 

José Graziano da Silva talked about the activity of the organization he heads, and said the organization has set such goals as combatting hunger, ensuring food safety, increasing efficiency of agriculture, forestry and fishery, and creation of healthy food systems. Underscoring that the activity of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva has contributed to achieving this goals, the guest said Leyla Aliyeva was conferred on the title of a Goodwill Ambassador of UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and presented the diploma to Mehriban Aliyeva. José Graziano da Silva invited Leyla Aliyeva to visit the Rome office of FAO.
