Meeting with French President Francois Hollande

On September 3, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met French President Francois Hollande at the Élysée Palace.

 

Satisfaction was expressed at the meeting with the successful development of mutual relations between the countries. French President Francois Hollande thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for the participation in the cultural events in Paris. Underscoring the great potential of the relations between our countries, Francois Hollande said France and Azerbaijan have built successful relations in such fields as economy, energy, information and communication technologies, space industry, agriculture etc. Noting that France was interested in extending relations with Azerbaijan, Francois Hollande expressed confidence these bilateral relations would be successfully developed in future too. 

 

Mehriban Aliyeva emphasized that the relations between France and Azerbaijan were on a level of strategic partnership, and that deepening of the relations was a priority direction in our country’s foreign policy. Noting that Azerbaijan has recently implemented a number of projects aiming to better promote Azerbaijan in France,  Mehriban Aliyeva said the ceremony of opening of the Azerbaijani Village in Paris on September 3 was one of this series. Mehriban Aliyeva said such cultural events took place in some 25 regions of France, and over 10 cities  of Azerbaijan and France have  built brotherhood relations. Touching upon France’s role in solving the Armenia-Azerbaijan Daghlyg Garabagh conflict as a co-chair in the Minsk group, Mehriban Aliyeva said she was hopeful France would continue its position with regard to this conflict’s being resolved keeping our country’s territorial integrity and within the framework of international legal norms. 

 

President Francois Hollande, expressing his country’s position towards the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Daghlyg Garabagh conflict by peaceful means, said France was interested in the solution of this conflict.
