A meeting with a delegation led by Jean-Marie Le Guen

On January 11, First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met a delegation led by Jean Marie Le Guen, the state secretary of the Republic of France for development and francophone issues of the Foreign Affairs and International Development Ministry.

 

Welcoming the guest to Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed confidence this visit would contribute to strengthening of the relations between Azerbaijan and France. High-level relations between Azerbaijan and France was underscored, and it was mentioned that they covered a number of spheres. It was emphasized that good cooperation has been established in such areas as space, information technology etc., and French companies have been successfully operating in our country.

 

Relations in the humanitarian sphere was mentioned in particular, and it was brought to attention that relations between France and Azerbaijan has reached a new level. The French Lyceum and the France-Azerbaijan University’s (UFAZ) commencement of their operations in Baku was cited as among the great achievements of the recent years between our countries in the sphere of education, and it was also note with pleasure that the 5th specialty will be taught at the university, where admission on 4 specialties is carried out at the moment.

 

12 agreements signed recent years between cities and regions of Azerbaijan and France on fraternization were underscored, and it was emphasized that this would serve to development of relations in political, economic and humanitarian fields. High level interparliamentary relations between our countries were mentioned. As the head of the Azerbaijan-France Friendship Group, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed confidence that building of closer cooperation was possible in this sphere. The activities of the Association of the Friends of Azerbaijan operating in France were talked about, and it was noted that this association has made significant contribution to the bilateral cooperation.

 

Jean-Marie Le Guen highly appreciated the activity of the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and said this activity is also contribution to the friendly and cooperative relations with France. Mehriban Aliyeva’s role in and support to the France-Azerbaijan University’s commencing its operation has been noted in particular.
