While in Paris trip, First Lady of Azerbaijan, Member of the Milli Majlis, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Chairman of the Azerbaijani-French Friendship Group Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva met on September 13th with President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher.

The First Lady of Azerbaijan was greeted before the French Parliament building by President of the Parliament Gerard Larcher.

Continuing cooperation between the French Senate and Azerbaijan was especially emphasized during the meeting. Expressing gratitude for the visit to France and the meeting with the President of the Senate, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva noted that she has been continuing to do her best, as the chairman of the Azerbaijani-French Friendship Group, for widening the cooperation between our countries and relations between the parliaments. From this point of view, cultural events, concerts, conferences and exhibitions held in France in connection with Azerbaijan play a significant role in strengthening the bilateral relations.

Having talked of our country’s most painful problem – the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Daghlyg Garabagh conflict – Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva mentioned that the French Senate had earlier too played a significant role in this issue, and significance of this role would be great in future too.

The First Lady of Azerbaijan invited the President Chairman of the French Senate to our country for an official visit.

Ambruaz Dupont, the chairman of the French Senate’s Caucasian Friendship Group, and our country’s ambassador to France Elchin Amirbeyov participated in the meeting.

Then presents were made mutually.
