Mehriban Aliyeva held a serious of meetings in Tehran

In frame of official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Islamic Republic of Iran, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva met on January 24 in Tehran with Zahra Sadegi Khatami, spouse of President of Islamic Republic of Iran Seyid Mohammed Khatami.


Mrs. Zahra Sadegi welcomed Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva with big respect and regard, expressed her delight of visit of First Lady of Azerbaijan to Iran.

 

Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva expressed her gratitude for sincere welcome and pleasant attitude shown to her.

On January 24 UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva was familiarized with Jewelry museum within Iran Central Bank, wrote warm words in Book of Honor of rich and very nice museum.

 

Spouse of Azerbaijani President attended carpet museum in Tehran. Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva was informed that thousands of handworks are kept here on ancient and rich carpet-weaving art of Iran. Among carpets, examples of Tebriz carpet school were more attractive.

 

Generally carpet-weaving and textile have important place in decorative-applied art of Iran and its major schools are Tebriz, Kashan, Kirman, Isphahan and Yazd cities.

 

Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva saw here weaving of carpets, had acquaintance with exhibition consisted of miniature art and other valuable exhibits, handworks shown in museum.

 

Exhibits on ancient history, ethnography of Iran as well domestic things, art examples reflecting different periods caused big interest of guests.

On January 25, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva received Fatima Rafsanjani, daughter of former President of Iran, current Chair of State Advise Council Ali Akbar Hashimi Rafsanjani, on her request. In a meeting, Fatima Rafsanjani gave detailed information to guest on activity of charitable foundation she leads and works done by Special Diseases Center, created due to aid of that foundation, in field of medical aid to people with diseases such as talassemia, hemophilia, diabetics and kidney.

Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva visited palace of last Shah of Iran Mohammed Rza Pahlavi in Tehran. Distinguished guest was informed that in palace built 73 years ago, fundamental repair works were realized in later 1970s. Majority of things in house of Shah were brought from France. Majority of ornaments are golden. 121-sq.m carpet woven from wool was more attractive.

 

Spouse of Azerbaijani President walked separate rooms of palace, saw domestic and decorative things.

The same day Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva had close acquaintance with Special Diseases Center, took interest in circumstance here.

 

Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva informed about assistance program of Heydar Aliyev Foundation she heads to children with diabetics, said that at present time it is worked on assistance program to children with talassemia. She stated her belief that experience of Iran in this sphere would be useful for them.

 

Mrs. Fatima Rafsanjani said that Foundation she leads is ready for cooperation with Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this field.

 

Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva expressed her delight of acquaintance with center, wished success to collective of this medical center for their charitable and kind works.
