Assembly of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors held in Paris

President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Member of Parliament Mehriban Aliyeva has arrived in Paris for participation in annual assembly of the Goodwill Ambassadors.

On March 15, the annual assembly of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors took place in headquarters of UNESCO. Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva was welcomed by UNESCO Protocol Chief Jean Luis Chan and Goodwill Ambassadors Program Head Mrs Basma Irshaid.

Prior to beginning of assembly, the Director General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura has once again congratulated Mehriban Aliyeva on election as the deputy of parliament of Azerbaijan. The UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors also have congratulated Mehriban Aliyeva and have wished successes in deputy activity.

Then the assembly started. Opening the action, the Director General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura has expressed gratitude to everyone who has sent to him congratulatory message on the occasion of re-election on this post, and has informed on the agenda of assembly. He dwelt on the work done in expired year in the field of culture, science and education, has noted direct participation of UNESCO in elimination of problems disturbing the world and has emphasized importance of continuation of cooperation in this sphere.

Having touched the work done by 30 Goodwill Ambassadors in the field of protection of cultural and universal heritage - one of main principles of UNESCO, the director general has noted special merits of President of Fund of the Friends to Azerbaijani Culture Mehriban Aliyeva and has expressed her gratitude. Koichiro Matsuura recalled the project `Education for all` implemented by UNESCO has successfully been realized.

Then, the floor was given to Mehriban Aliyeva.

Then UNESCO Director General received Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva. In the meeting the director general was interested in ongoing processes in Azerbaijan in field of education, culture and science.

After the assembly, banquet was arranged in honor of goodwill ambassadors on behalf of the director general.
