Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the “Gayghy” Rehabilitation Centre for physically disabled children

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the “Gayghy” Rehabilitation Centre located at 1 A.Azimzadeh street Nizami district intended to provide disinterested aid to physically disabled children, May 3.


Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with the conditions created in the building. It was informed that the “Gayghy” Rehabilitation Centre was built in 1952 and created on the basis of the building of the “Zanbagh” Children Home functioning under the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan. With reconstruction started late last year, the building’s structure was reinforced with ferro-concrete belts and additionally 73 m² -building constructed. A 265 m² - covered swimming pool was built in the area for the treatment of physically disabled children.


The rehabilitation centre has been designed for 30 to 50 children with cerebral palsy. Children aged 3 to 6 will be educated and receive appropriate treatment at this kindergarten type centre.   The building has been provided with drinking water, fire protection water basins and 56 surveillance cameras. Greenery has been planted in the area around the centre.


Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the procedural, sleeping, group, training device, play, massage and physician rooms, and took a walk in the yard.


All equipment at the centre is a present from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The special training device designed for patients with cerebral palsy are of Italian make.


Mehriban Aliyeva expressed her gratitude for the conditions created at the centre and gave relevant recommendations.
