Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of Imam Rza Mosque in Bina settlement of Baku after reconstruction

On June 6, Imam Rza Mosque in Bina settlement of Khazar district of Baku was put into operation after reconstruction.

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, deputy to the Milli Majlis from Khazar district Mehriban Aliyeva and her daughter Arzu Aliyeva attended the inauguration.

Reconstruction works at the Mosque started in September of the last year following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative based on the request received from Bina elders. Reconstruction works were completed in May of this year.

Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with the conditions created at the Mosque.

Total area of the complex comprised of the Mosque, minaret and service rooms is 1800 sq.m. The Mosque’s fence has been totally demolished and built anew, the gate and metal gratings replaced. Reinforcement and insulation works have been done to the Mosque’s foundation. The domes of the building and of the 21-meter minaret have been totally demolished  and built anew. Doors and windows have been replaced with new ones and decoration works carried out on the walls and ceilings.

230 people may pray at a time at the Mosque. A floor provided with a heating system has been installed here. Women coming to the Mosque will pray in a room allocated on the second floor.

The Mosque’s ahong Hassan presented  Qur’ani Karim to Mehriban Aliyeva.

Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the prayer hall of the Mosque.

Then the First Lady met with residents of Bina settlement and talked to them:

- I’m very pleased that such a noble job has been done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. As you know, from the very first day of the Foundation’s activity, one of the directions of our  activity was approaching education, culture, preserving religious monuments, our national traditions and values with due respect. Therefore, I would like to congratulate all of you on such a nice day,  and I am very pleased to see you here.”

Ahong of the Mosque Hajji Hassan thanked Mehriban Aliyeva on behalf of Bina residents for the works done in the settlement and major reconstruction works carried out in the Mosque.

Mehriban Aliyeva talked also about the works done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Bina, and said these works will be continued.
