Mehriban Aliyeva visits Republican boarding school 1 for deaf children in Nizami district

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva on January 31 has visited the boarding school 1 in the Nizami district of Baku.


Children and teachers welcomed distinguished guest with big love and respect.

Mrs. Aliyeva was informed on history of the School functioning since 1967, with 379 pupils, including 165 girls from numerous regions of the Republic. As was stated, over 150 educators are engaged in School with a hostel for 200 pupils. The classes pass on special program. Local executive power and Education Ministry renders regular aid to school. One doctor and two nurses work at school.


They stated that they did not have serious problem. We would like repair works to be started, sport hall created. Despite special textbooks are prepared for Azeri and Russian sectors, there is need for textbooks on mathematics, geography, history.

Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the photo-stands in School narrating on activity of the pupils who took the second place in the "Dan Ulduzu" festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation last year. Mehriban Aliyeva was familiarized with subsidiary classrooms, medical cabinet and watched several lessons on Azerbaijan language and literature.


The Foundation`s President was informed that earlier the teachers for deaf children were trained in Moscow and Leningrad. Now such tutors are trained at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University in Baku after Azerbaijan became independent. Unfortunately, due to lack of material base of the Society of Deaf, the children have difficulties to be employed after the School. It was also stressed necessity of teaching of military training classes in the School.


Paying attention to the handmade works of the children on sewing, weaving, painting, cooking, Mehriban Aliyeva stressed necessity of undertaking certain measures to provide the pupils with equipments and textbooks to promote their speech.
