Traditional festivity for children

As in every year, this year too, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has organized New Year celebrations for children being brought up in children’s homes and boarding schools, children from martyrs’, internally displayed and refugee families, orphans and those deprived of parental care.

On December 28, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva participated in celebrations organised at Buta Palace.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the festive event:

- Dear children, esteemed parents and teachers!

I’m very pleased to be here again with you today. Today we are saying goodbye to the passing year 2012 and together greeting the new year 2013. I’m hopeful the year 2012 was successful for all of you. Pleasant moments and events full of happiness prevailed in this year.

I wish the dreams and wishes that you had in your heart and could not realize in the passing year to come true in the coming year 2013. You are too young, your life path is before you. Of course, every parent’s greatest dream  is to see his/her children in sound health, strong, educated and as a decent citizen of Azerbaijan. Today our state does everything to ensure this. Today Azerbaijan is a country with high pace of development, becoming more modernized and beautiful day-by-day. Actually all works, projects and plans being implemented today serve your living a healthy and happy life in future.

If we look back at the previous year, we can see that we have made a great deal of achievements in our country. All regions of the country are developing and the capital becomes more beautiful day-by-day. Influence of Azerbaijan on the international arena rises year-by-year. The fact that our country has been elected non-permanent member to the Security Council of UN, the most influential organization of the world, is the most obvious proof of it. Our country was endorsed by 155 states, and this is Azerbaijan’s rising role and influence not only in the region, but also in the whole world. If we look back at the previous year, of course one of the unforgettable events  was the international “Eurovision-2012” Song Contest held in our capital. You all apparently remember that in those days we all were in festive mood. We held this music holiday, this contest at the highest level. This was another victory of us.

I’m sure more and greater victories are expecting us in future. In several years, just our children and youth will lead these victories. We will also return our lands and have more victories. We are a very strong independent country and will be such in future too.

Today I would like to once more deliver my great love for each of you.  I would like to congratulate you on the new year 2013 and the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day. I hope the following year will be more successful. The new year will be more pleasant, more joyful for each of you. I’d like to kiss each of you and once more congratulate on this Holiday. Thank you!
