Traditional festivity for children
Heydar Aliyev Foundation held New Year celebrations at Buta Palace for children from children homes and boarding schools, martyr, refugee and IDP families, orphans, children deprived of parental care and schoolchildren distinguished in education.
December 30, Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva attended along with her daughter Arzu the next celebration, talked to children and were photographed with them.

Dear children,
First of all, I cordially congratulate you on the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year, wish you good health, successes, happiness and peace in the New Year.
Traditionally, we see the New Year together. Today we see New Year – 2010 and say bye to 2009, which went down in the history of our country with a number of necessary events and achievements. Economic growth in Azerbaijan goes on, despite the global financial crisis. We can see it almost in all fields of life. Our native Baku gets more beautiful day by day, new gardens, parks are built, monuments, seaside park restored. New educational, scientific, medical objects, roads, bridges are constructed in our country.
You all well know that Baku was declared the capital of the Islamic culture in 2009. In this connection, a number of international meetings, symposiums, festivals were held in Baku. The 1st International Mugham Festival was held in Baku in March. 7 days were a grand music festivity and once more proved mugham of Azerbaijan is the pearl of not our culture only but of the universal music.
2009 was the Children’s Year at the same time and a number of important steps were taken in the country in this sphere. In 2009, 68 new school buildings and additional buildings were constructed in Azerbaijan, 28 schools capitally repaired, over 10 children homes and kindergartens repaired and reconstructed.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation continues its activity in this field too. Children’s Music School was built and opened in Aghdash City this year. Foundation of the Nesimi Children’s Art School was laid in Shamakhy City. A number of international meetings were held. National conference on children’s protection reform in Azerbaijan, I Children’s Forum, Olympiad were held in October. In a word, a number of important works were done and achievements gained in 2009.
Dear children, all these works have one goal – to see your future in independent, stronger, more developed and more prosperous Azerbaijan. Future of every state is its children. So, all these works are done for tomorrow – for you.
I wish you huge successes, good health and good spirit in your education and life. This year Heydar Aliyev Foundation holds this celebration for you in a new place – Buta Palace that was opened in 2009. I believe you will love and remember this palace, this celebration.
