A Secondary school built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for girls in Rara Territory of Pakistan’s Muzaffarabad City was opened

The new building built on the initiative of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, was constructed in place of old one destroyed by earthquake in October 2005.

 

Pupils of the School, which was rendered quite unsuitable by the quake, were taking lessons in tents and outdoor. Taking it into consideration Heydar Aliyev Foundation started negotiations with the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority of Pakistan to build a school in Rara Territory. Pakistani party proposed to have the School consisted of slight constructions as the Authority was not able to complete construction of the building earlier 2009. But upon instruction of Mehriban Aliyeva and due to support of Azeri Embassy to Pakistan tender was declared for construction of the building of heavy construction. Heydar Aliyev Foundation opened special account for funding of construction works.

 

Highly assessing the initiative by Heydar Aliyev Foundation to build a school in Pakistan UNESCO backed the project.

 

The School, which was built for short time in frame of the project totaled 750,000 USD, owns 10 special classrooms, subject cabinets, library, computer room and sports ground. Total area of the School is about 2000 sq.m.

 

The School, which is located in difficult mountainous relief, has been supplied with high level equipment. The School will be attended by over 500 pupils. Heydar Aliyev Foundation has supplied the School with visual aids, publications on Azerbaijan.

 

New school in Pakistan is the first educational institution Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which attaches huge importance to development of education, has built abroad in the framework of “Support to Education” project.

 

Delegation consisted of head of Azerbaijan-Pakistan Interparliamentary Working Group of Milli Majlis Eldar Ibrahimov, Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Eynulla Madatli, employees of the Foundation and the Embassy, journalists arrived February 9 in Rara Region to attend the opening ceremony of the School. Administration and public of the Region, teachers and pupils of the School gave a warm welcome to the Azeri delegation.

 

At the building of the School decorated with flags of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UNESCO there was a corner reflecting information and photos of national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva.

 

Addressing the opening ceremony Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov gave greetings from Mehriban Aliyeva, read her letter of congratulation. The letter talks of historical and cultural ties between two countries, states the School built within the Support to Education Project of Heydar Aliyev Foundation is the contribution of Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the friendly relations between the two nations.

 

Minister of Labor, Communication, Reconstruction and Restoration of Azad Gamu and Kashmir Province of Pakistan Mohammad Nazim Khan, Deputy Minister of Education of the Province Hafiz Azed expressed gratitude on behalf of the Pakistani government and population of the region for great support to solution of education problems of children, valued this step as an important event in relationship of Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

 

Ali Irvaly, head of Turkish company Turcon that implemented construction works, gave detailed information of construction, said latest equipment was used in construction of the object.

 

Head of Azerbaijan-Pakistan Interparliamentary Working Group of Milli Majlis Eldar Ibrahimov recalled support rendered by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev after the quake of October 2005, noted friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan started by national leader Heydar Aliyev are successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. E.Ibrahimov thanked Pakistan for supporting Azerbaijan in settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Daghlig Garabagh conflict, expressed confidence for further development of friendly ties between the two nations. 

 

Director of the School Ms. Firdovs Shahin expressed thanks on behalf of the body of the School to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and all the friendly people of Azerbaijan for this good will.

 

After the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the School was cut, participants of the ceremony were familiarized with subject cabinets, library and other rooms, attended the lesson.

 

Presenting the documents of the School to the Pakistani party Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov expressed confidence for continuation of projects of the Foundation concerning Pakistan.

During the visit, Azerbaijani delegation met with the head of Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority of Pakistan Altaf Salim.

 

Mr. Salim said after the quake over 5400 schools have been built in the country. The one built by Heydar Aliyev Foundation is the best of them. He mentioned to the Pakistani government this is the great contribution of Azerbaijan to relations between two countries. He thanked President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for this good will.

 

Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov gave detailed information about activity of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Mr. Alakbarov noted that school built in Muzaffarabad city is a gift of the Foundation to friendly Pakistani people.

Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov met with Chairperson of Pakistan’s Hashu Foundation Mrs. Sara Hashvani to discuss issues of cooperation.

 

A.Alakbarov said Mrs. Sara Hashvani has been invited by President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva to the international conference to be held in June in Baku on the role of women in the dialog of civilizations. He provided information of the Foundation’s action and projects.

 

Noting Heydar Aliyev Foundation has offices in several countries Anar Alakbarov informed of last successful projects of Mrs. Leila Aliyeva, head of the Representation of the Foundation in Russia.

 

The parties discussed projects of Heydar Aliyev Foundation relating to children needing special care, also assurance of access of blind and visually impaired persons to ICT. Sara Hashvani said she got enough information of this project from foreign press and site of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. She requested to exchange in future experience in this field.

 

Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation informed of the project of the Foundation concerning children affected with thalassemia, Thalassemia Center that is under construction in Baku, a board of international experts. Mrs. Sara Hashvani requested Heydar Aliyev Foundation to help in getting contact with members of the board.

 

In conclusion, the sides agreed to sign agreement about cooperation between Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Hashu Foundation during visit of Sara Hashvani to Baku.
