President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva visited a series of schools and children's homes in Azizbeyov district of Baku

Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, visited on March 17 Azizbeyov district of Baku.

 

President of the Foundation arrived first to the secondary school 149 named after Elchin Shamiyev in Bina settlement. Mrs Aliyeva was sincerely welcomed by teachers and pupils.

 

Director Rahila Bakhshiyeva said the building of the school was built in 1935. The school seating 350 pupils is attended by 2050 pupils in 3 shifts. In 40 classes lessons are given in Azeri language, in 17 classes in Russian. The school employs 95 teachers. 43 graduates of the school entered last year the higher schools. Pupils and trainees of the school successfully perform in domestic, international sport contests, subject Olympiads, different contests. Graduates of the school Ismail Guliyev win silver medal in world karate championship among teens, Vasif Aliyev defeated Armenian athlete in European free-fighting championship and took the third place. There are serious problems at the school for long years. Roof of the building not repaired so far is in bad order and third floor got in disrepair because water leak.

 

After monitoring Heydar Aliyev Foundation held in the district, on the initiative of MP Mehriban Aliyeva construction of new education building of the school was included in the plan in frame of Baku settlements socio-economic development program. Construction of the 3-storey building seating 1000 people started in November 2006 and second floor is under construction at present. The new building will be commissioned by new school year.

 

Being informed of all this Mehriban Aliyeva saw current building of the school, noted it is very big risk that over 2000 children get education in such circumstance. Mrs Aliyeva noted construction of new building must be accelerated and current building must fundamentally be repaired, for this purpose she assigned the executive director of the Foundation to develop respective project-estimate documents with participation of experienced specialists. `Commissioning of 50 classrooms in new building and fundamental building of the old building will contribute to giving the lessons at the school in single shift`, Mrs Aliyeva mentioned adding actions must be taken to supply the school with necessary appliances.

 

Teachers and parents underlined with gratitude the new school building fully meeting the modern standards is under construction in Bina. Cornerstone of the school was laid last year by President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva. New education buildings are built for all other 4 schools. Reflecting big care and attention to the education, science and youth in the country all this display that MP Mehriban Aliyeva consistently keeps her promises. Thanking Mrs Aliyeva residents said over 120,000 population of the settlement are much satisfied of the works done that further strengthen the belief in state policy.

Next meeting in Bina settlement took place at kindergarten 152. This 280-seat child training institution has not been fundamentally repaired during 40 years of its functioning. Mehriban Aliyeva was closely familiarized with the building, talked to teachers, underlined there is serious necessity for fundamental repair ad reconstruction there.

 

Noting she is aware that 2 of 4 kindergartens in the settlement are presented to privatization Mrs Aliyeva said it needs to soon start the fundamental repair of kindergarten 152 and enlarge its facilities to save poor families of serious problems. Respective actions must be taken in this direction and during the repair the kindergarten must be moved to another relevant building.

Visiting on the eve of 2005 parliamentary elections Shimal-DRES, residential area on the outskirts of Shuvalan settlement, President of the Foundation saw roads, administrative and dwelling buildings, only polyclinic and culture house, baby house-kindergarten 10 fell into disrepair and stated there was serious necessity to take complex actions there.

 

Arriving again at the baby house-kindergarten Mehriban Aliyeva was warmly welcomed by children and trainers, presented flowers. Photo stand `Kindergarten in the past and present` at the entry of the building reflects the scale of works done here.

 

Children, happy for complete change of the kindergarten, performed rhythmic songs and dances, said poems.

 

Resident of the settlement Raya Borisova and 80-year-old Savalan Allahverdiyev applied to Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva on behalf of people gathered there: `Not only the kindergarten but all the residential area has fully changed due to Your care. Roads were asphalted, green stripe created, roofs, front of over 20 buildings were fundamentally repaired, dyed, water pipe built, illuminating system changed, important units repaired and reconstructed. Those having left the area because of bad facilities are coming back, even some Russians have returned from Russia.

 

Mrs Aliyeva said works are not completed yet, much more will be done, and congratulated the residents and body of the kindergarten on Novruz Holiday.
