President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and French President Francois Hollande get acquainted with the construction works being carried out at the Baku French lycee

On May 11, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and French President Francois Hollande, who has been on an official visit to Azerbaijan, got acquainted with construction works being carried out at the French lycée.

Significant part of the 320-seat lycée building has already been completed, and it is expected that the school will be completed until September this year. Foundation of the lycée was laid in October 2011 under the agreement signed between the governments of Azerbaijan and France on “Establishment of a Baku French lycée” within the framework of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s visit to Baku. Supported also by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the lycée will give a chance to children - French-language foreign nationals - temporarily living in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani children to receive education in French.

French school’s training scheme will be built according to the French national education system and conducted in French. A certificate to be issued to school-leavers will conform to the standards and requirements of the French Ministry of National Education, and will be recognized by the Ministry. Leavers of the school will have a chance to continue their education at any higher education institution of France according to their choices.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and French President Francois Hollande addressed the ceremony.

At the end, they were photographed, and heads of the states planted trees before the lycée.
