The “Knowledge Day” was a double holiday for the pupils of Secondary School No.18 named after Nizami Aydin in Ganja city, as they will continue their study in a modern school building in the new school year.

While on a visit to Ganja city, First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva became familiarized with the condition of the school and gave necessary instructions on performing repair works on the school building.

Having been in operation since 1965, the school building’s last repair was carried out in 1988, and the building was in need of basic reconstruction. 795 pupils studied at the school designed for 640.

In the framework of the works done, basic repair was carried out in the school building and, taking into account the existing demand, an additional building for 280 pupils was constructed. At the moment, conditions have been created for the education of 1000 pupils at the school, on the Azerbaijani and Russian sections.

The new school building accommodates 51 classrooms, chemistry, biology, physics, labour rooms, a military training room, sports and assembly halls, a library, a teachers’ room, as well as a physician’s room, a kitchen, and a canteen. The school has been provided with necessary furniture and equipment. A sports ground with artificial cover was also built on the territory. The school has been provided with heating and water systems, the area has been covered with asphalt, and belts of greenery laid out.

The school’s teaching staff received first congratulation in the new school year from First Vice-president of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. Congratulations and greetings of the First Vice-president were delivered to the school staff.

Teacher of the school Jeyran Mammadova shared her joy by these words: “On this “Knowledge Day”, I am happy both as a teacher and also as a parent, as our school where I have been teaching for years was basically renovated and placed at the disposal of teachers and pupils. This year, my four grandchildren comes for the first time to this school. I am confident both my grandchildren and all other pupils will show high results on education in this new school, where all necessary conditions have been ensured. Here are contemporary subject laboratories, classrooms, and a sports hall. For these conditions ensured in the school building, I want to thank Mehriban khanum Aliyeva on behalf of the whole staff”.

Following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, another school was basically repaired and placed at the disposal of pupils and teachers. It is Secondary School No.34 named after Samir Veliyev in Ganja city.

Basic repair works were carried out on the school building, constructed in 1984. 36 classrooms, a laboratory, labour and language rooms, an informatics room, a room for military training, as well as preschool education room are functioning in the school building, provided with all necessary furniture and equipment.

Pupil of the school Ilhama Alasgarova, expressing her joy for continuing her education in such a modern school in the new school year, said: “Due to the old school building’s being not repaired, we could not receive a quality education. Especially, as we did not have subject laboratories, we studied not on practices, but on theory. As in other schools in the city, I used to dream of our school too having been provided with state-of-the-art conditions. This school year was twice joyful for both the teachers and the pupils. We too have now a state-of-the-art school. And now, we will study with more enthusiasm and try to enter higher schools with better scores”.

Pupil Elvin Safarov: “Today is the “Knowledge Day” and the day on which our school is commissioned after basic repair. Both the remarkable days make the staff of our school very happy. At the moment, we are having our first lesson in this school year in the biology laboratory. Our biology laboratory, as well as laboratories on other subjects have been provided with necessary equipment, and teaching accessories. The modern sports ground and hall will allow us to become healthier and engage in the types of sports we wish more correctly.

We thank on behalf of all pupils Azerbaijan’s First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva for making us experience this joy, and for the high care and attention shown towards us.

The visit undertaken by First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva in February to Ganja was a turning moment for Nursery-kindergarten No.32 too. It was then when a decision was taken on reconstructing this kindergarten.

At that time, it was brought to Mehriban Aliyeva’s attention that constructed in 1985, this building was in need of basic repair. The First Vice-president had emphasized that this kindergarten too had to be reconstructed and provided with necessary material and technical basis.

A new building designed for 280 children was constructed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the nursery-kindergarten, which has been operating since 1985, and provided with necessary furniture and equipment, where 14 group will be functioning. Sleeping rooms, other necessary rooms for children’s education and recreation, as well as music and sports rooms were constructed. All necessary conditions have been created here for children’s education. Rooms have been provided with every equipment needed. Such high conditions make the little very happy. We, parents sincerely thank Mehriban khanum Aliyeva for the conditions created for children, our future”.
