President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva visits a subsidiary boarding school 11 for mentally retarded children located in Bilgah settlement of Sabunchu district

In the framework of the 4-phase program for familiarization with boarding schools and orphanages in Baku prepared by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, its President, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva visited on February 3 a subsidiary boarding school 11 for mentally retarded children located in Bilgah settlement of Sabunchu district of Baku.

Mrs. Aliyeva was warmly welcomed by children and teachers.

Director of the school Mahpara Jafarova let Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva know that built in the 1940s, the school has not yet been seriously repaired. She advised at the same time that French oil company "Total" had erected a 10 classrooms building to conduct pilot lessons. However, the school in which there are 396 pupils and 56 teachers needs major repair, the Director said.

Mrs. Aliyeva viewed classrooms, sport hall, dining room, carpet weaving shop, hostel and attended classes, saw handworks of children. She stressed that necessary actions about the school building`s major repair would certainly be undertaken.
