A group of experts of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies paid a 1-day visit to the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchyvan to study construction of the Regional Information Center.
According to Mushfig Emirov, Head of the Ministry’s Press Service, the Center is built in frame of continuation of the project performed by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies and UNDP to enhance access of the disabled to information and communication technologies.
Equipped with up-to-date technologies the Center will have a reading hall, learning and training centre, audio library, recording studio converting literature fund into audio format, computer hall with high-speed Internet access and latest computers specially designed for blind and visually impaired children. Internet site for the Center will be developed. Books of 50 names will be published in Braille and converted to audio format at the recording studio.
Electronic enlarging devices for visually impaired persons will be installed on computers, Braille books published, subtitle films for the deaf and dumb shown, computer games for mentally retarded people organized. The Center will include all facilities for those with invalid carriage.
The Azeri government attaches huge importance to development of ICT skills of every member of society, provides opportunities to disabled people to use ICT and electronic information resources. Model ICT classes have been created at the Republican Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children in frame of Project on Assurance of Access of Blind and Visually Impaired Persons to ICT at the initiative of President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva.
An analogical center established in Ganca City serves over 60.000 physically disabled living in Ganca and Naftalan cities, Agstafa, Dashkesen, Gazakh, Gedebey, Goranboy, Samukh, Tovuz, Goygol, Shemkir districts.
