‘Genocide Memorial Complex’ to be set due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation at the mass cemetery in Guba

‘Genocide Memorial Complex’ will be set due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation at the mass cemetery in Guba City. The Complex is dedicated to the memory of tens of thousands of people killed in a number of regions during mass ethnic cleansing and aggression committed by Armenian-dashnak robber bands in Azerbaijan lands.

The most tragic genocides of XX century were committed in different regions of Azerbaijan in early the past century. During these atrocities tens of thousands of persons became victims of Armenian barbarism, were driven out of native lands, many habitations destroyed completely.

One of regions covered by genocide was Guba City and surrounding villages. During massacres committed in Guba Province in April-May 1918, 122 villages were completely destructed, Azerbaijanis killed with special cruelty, thousands of representatives of Lezghins, Jews, Tats and other national minorities underwent violence.

Restless souls of victims of the bloody genocide lie at the mass cemetery in Guba City. ‘Genocide Memorial Complex’ to be erected here aims to inform the world community of criminal acts of Armenian nationalists, eternalize the memory of victims of the genocide, preserve the national memory of young generations.

A working group of experts has been created due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Benefitted by the world experience in this direction, the experts are about to end works on several models of the Complex.
