October 16, School named after Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, was inaugurated in Egypt`s Qalyubia Governorate.
The School is the first in Egypt named after a foreign citizen. Delegation of Absheron District Executive Power attended the opening ceremony.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Friendship and Cooperation between Egypt`s Qalyubia Governorate and Azerbaijan`s Absheron District was one of the main documents signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Egypt two years ago. Since then the two brother cities have been exchanging the high-level visits and meetings.
Prior to the inauguration, delegation led by Head of Absheron District Executive Power Zakir Farajov visited Heydar Aliyev`s monument in the Azerbaijan-Egypt Friendship Park set within 7 hectares in Qalyubia Governorate, population of which is 15 million. Then visitors familiarized themselves with the newly opened School named after Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO.
The 4-storey, 1600-seat School, the only in Egypt of this kind, will employ 100 teachers, have the training, disabled children and general education sections.
The foyer of the School presents a stand of pictures depicting Azerbaijan-Egypt friendship, President Ilham Aliyev`s and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva`s care and attention to science, education, culture and health in the country. The School includes labs, library, computer room, football and volleyball grounds. The Azeri delegation and Qalyubia Governor Adli Hussein were acquainted with conditions at the School.
Afterwards, Adli Hussein handed over to Zakir Farajov the order on naming the School after Azerbaijan`s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
