Meeting with Azerbaijanis working in the health and medical system of Russia took place at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Russia, December 3. Nearly 50 employees of this sphere were present in the meeting organized by Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation, Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) and Embassy of Azerbaijan to Russia.
Opening the event Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu said it is an eminent fact that a lot of Azerbaijani doctors work in Russia’s health and medical system, they have huge successes and work in the high professional level. According to him, along with other spheres, healthcare and medicine actively develop in Azerbaijan, new hospitals, polyclinics, medical centers equipped with latest technical appliances are built. Exchange of experience between health and medical employees of Russia and Azerbaijan is of special importance in this sense and firm cooperation with Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation can stimulate development of relations concerning settlement of this affair.
Leila Aliyeva, Head of Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation, Chairwoman of AYOR, stressed significance of meeting with people specialized in saving a human life. She said: ‘You give hope to people, help them much. Profession of doctor is one of the most important and responsible, at the same time one of the most necessary professions. I thank you for this noble job’.
Talking of large action of Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation Leila Aliyeva said more than 2 years pass since the Delegation’s establishment. For this time, active work has been and is being carried out in field of culture, science, sport and education, however, one of main courses in the Foundation’s activity is health. She emphasized Heydar Aliyev Foundation develops and performs programmes and projects in Azerbaijan independently and along with Health Ministry, helps people in need of special care, vulnerable social groups – children, teens, children homes, elderly homes, IDP and refugee families, poor families and children affected with different diseases.
The Head of Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia informed of the medical direction of the Foundation’s activity, naming several projects in the field. According to her, the Foundation has been accomplishing the Highest Care to Diabetes-Affected Children Programme since 2004, in frame of which serious help is rendered to the elderly too. ‘For the Life without Thalassemia’ Programme has been realized since 2005, modern Thalassemia Center was built and opened in Baku, new medical objects are built, existing institutions reconstructed, Child Psycho-Neurologic Center opened this year, polyclinic in Azizbeyov district’s Turkan settlement, hospital in Shuvalan settlement, treatment-diagnostics center in Zira settlement repaired and equipped, modern medical center constructed in April 2008 in Gala settlement, Tebessum Child Sanatorium capitally repaired and equipped in 2007-2009, other works done. Heydar Aliyev Foundation enhances cooperation with a number of world-famous firms.
L.Aliyeva underlined for the past 5 years Heydar Aliyev Foundation has rendered medical aid to more than 10.000 people in Azerbaijan, 763 surgical operations carried out, nearly 100 patients sent abroad for examination and treatment. She said; ‘We would like people not to get ill, but unfortunately it is not possible. Heydar Aliyev Foundation is not going to be pleased of achievements gained. It will keep on helping Azeris across the world, including in Russia’.
Relating to work of AYOR, Leila Aliyeva said the Organization has been holding charity action ‘Blood Has No Nation’ for 2 years. Young doctors in Azerbaijan recently realized ‘Make Sure You Are Healthy, Say NO to Disease’ action, within which patients were free of charge examined. Talking of importance of exchange of experience, joint actions, conferences, seminars, master classes for young doctors L.Aliyeva said she is ready to support any initiative and suggestion in field of health.

Talking of high level of technical supply of medical institutions in Azerbaijan the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia said this modern equipment should be used by people, so, studying youth should return to the homeland as good specialists.
Addressing the meeting doctors noted necessity of such events, development of ties between healthcare and medical spheres of Russia and Azerbaijan. Expressing deep gratitude to Head of Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation Leila Aliyeva and Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu they mentioned the meeting laid the base of future mutual action. Speakers noted there are a lot of opportunities to unite efforts and cooperate.
Then, solemn ceremony of awarding and presenting souvenirs was held. Head of Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation Leila Aliyeva presented honor diplomas to representatives of Russian medical public. Outstanding employees of the health and medical system – professors, academicians, practicing doctors, promising young specialists in medicine such as academician Valeri Sandrikov, Aide to Chairperson of the State Duma Health Protection Committee, doctor of medicine Yevgeni Gelfgard, professors Aliheydar Rahimov, Aleksandr Yeremenko, Yuri Barsukov, Adil Mammadov, Safar Hamidov, Ismikhan Gahramanov, Kima Abdullayeva, young specialists Samir Aliyev, Parviz Safarov and Ashraf Hasanov were thanked ‘For contribution to training of personnel and organization of humanitarian actions of AYOR’.
