President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva participates in the conference “Teenager and Contemporary Society: Rights and Responsibility”

Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, and Leila Aliyeva, Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Office in the Russian Federation, participated on October 10 in the conference “Teenager and Contemporary Society: Rights And Responsibility”, which was held within the framework of the international festival “BibliObraz-2007”, which is organized on the initiative and with participation of Lyudmila Putina, First Lady of Russia.


The participants of the Conference held at Alexander Hall of Great Kremlin Palace included famous scientists, workers of culture and education of Russia and representatives of the member countries of the international festival “BibliObraz-2007”. The forum addressed the issues concerning children’s and teenagers’ rights for learning to read, choosing high-quality literature, and responsibility of the government and state for development of reading among teenagers.


Director of the Institute of Philosophy of Academy of Sciences of Russia Vyacheslav Stepin, Director of Educational Sociology Center Vladimir Sobkin, Director General of Pushkinskaya Biblioteka Foundation Mariya Vedenyapina, Rector of St Petersburg University Lyudmila Verbitskaya and others noted the influence of book and necessity for lifting the efforts to increase the interest in reading the book. They mentioned reading, first of all literature differed with high literary merits plays big role in improvement and socialization of personality. Reading that is very strong mechanism for protection and increase of wealth of native language strengthens the human morality, develops the imagination and creative skills. This is specially necessary in adolescence that is very essential period for formation of the personality.     


In the Conference, observance of rights of children and teens to properly study reading the book, realization of these rights, formation of positive attitude among teens on literature and book were discussed. Speakers underlined along with electron ways of access to information, all actions must be taken that new generations apply often to the book, respect and highly value the book.


Participants involved attention of governmental structures, parents and scientific and pedagogical community, authors and publishers in the importance of realization of events aiming popularization of reading among the teens and creation of favorable book environment for them.


At the close of the Conference, First Lady of Russia Lyudmila Putina cordially thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for active participation in the events in Moscow and supporting the megaproject “BibliObraz-2007”.


The First Lady of Azerbaijan thanked Lyudmila Putina for invitation to partake in the Festival and Conference, and hospitality showed towards her during the visit.
