President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko visits Heydar Aliyev Foundation
President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko visited Heydar Aliyev Foundation on September 8.
The Ukrainian President was warmly welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva. The guests watched first a documentary about the Foundation`s activity, projects carried out by that.
Then, President of the Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva informed the Ukrainian President about the activity of the Foundation, founded as a sign of respect in memory of national leader of Azeri people Heydar Aliyev. She said the goal of the Foundation is directed towards studying and propagandizing the Heydar Aliyev`s rich heritage, providing obvious idea in future generations and visitors on his wide-scale activity directed to socio-economic and cultural progress of Azerbaijan, as well as implementing the nationwide leader-initiated international projects and supporting the propaganda of Azerbaijan`s culture and history.
President Ilham Aliyev informed his Ukrainian counterpart about the exhibits reflecting different periods of Heydar Aliyev`s life and activity.
The President of Ukraine was familiarized with numerous documents reflecting the very various moments of life of phenomenal person Heydar Aliyev and creating a wide idea of the entire history of Azerbaijan, books about the great leader, gifts presented to him by the popular political figures all over the world, ideas of influential figures of science, culture and art of the world on the constructor of state of Azerbaijan, saw with big interest photos taken with leaders of different countries.
The Ukrainian President was impressed by the photo of great leader Heydar Aliyev taken during his visit to Ukraine in 1997 with V.Yushchenko, head of National Bank of Ukraine at the time. He said he always remembers that meeting with good feelings. The Azeri and Ukrainian Presidents were photographed in front of that picture.
Afterwards, the Ukrainian leader signed Guest Book of the Foundation, expressed deep respect to personality of national leader Heydar Aliyev, wished success to the Foundation in its valuable activity for progress of the state of Azerbaijan.
The Ukrainian President was presented souvenirs.
The distinguished guest left the Foundation under rich and pleasant impressions.
