A group of American schoolchildren visiting Azerbaijan due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

The American schoolchildren having won the essay competition held due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the US Embassy in Azerbaijan are on a visit to Azerbaijan from June 20. The visit will last till June 28. 


Held by the World Affairs Councils of America in connection with Azerbaijan, the essay competition was declared for 3000 schoolchildren in December 2011 and ended on March 1, 2012. The American schoolchildren are accompanied by the Council’s Program Officer Althea Georgantas and Azerbaijan’s Honor Consul in Sante-Fe Emmitt Richard Art McHaffie.


On the first day of the trip, the visitors were familiarized with the museum at Heydar Aliyev Foundation, took interest in the Foundation’s activities. The delegation also visited the Mugham Center, Icharishahar and National Park.


As part of the trip, the schoolchildren will attend meetings with a number of government officials, visit Caspian Energy Center, Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, US Embassy and American Center. Also, they will be acquainted with Azerbaijan State Museum of History, Azerbaijan State Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art and Qala State History and Ethnography Museum. The guests will visit Gabala district as well.     


The World Affairs Councils of America comprises up to 100 representations based in 40 states of USA. Annually about 500.000 people participate in its global projects.
