President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva visits Shamakhy district
Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, visited on September 16 Shamakhy district.
Mrs Aliyeva commenced to get familiarization with works done in the district on initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation from the boarding school of Shamakhy city where teachers and pupils warmly welcomed Mrs Aliyeva.
Director Velijan Gulaliyev said the school built in 1964 was not repaired for long and changed its look, its ceiling and floor were out of order because of rain, appliances were old, water and light systems were in state of wreck. President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva visited the school during her visit to the district last April, promised to help to fundamentally repair the school after studying the state here.
Works done here within program `Development of children homes and boarding schools` removed all these problems. Roof, ceiling, floor, windows and doors were fully changed, all appliances renovated, computers purchased. The yard and road to the school were asphalted, trees and flowers planted in the garden. The school with 31 classrooms includes 516 pupils majority of which belong to poor families. Pupils are given free food 3 times a day. 17 graduates of the school entered this year higher and secondary vocational schools, some the technical vocational school near.
Mrs Aliyeva viewed classrooms, computer, subject cabinets, gym, labor training shop, diner and library of the school, talked to teachers and pupils in classrooms, took interest in level of knowledge of pupils, congratulated the first-formers and wished to get excellent marks only. She also saw the photo galleries on life of national leader Heydar Aliyev, meetings President Ilham Aliyev had in the district, projects implemented in Shamakhy by the Foundation, previous and current looks of the school.
Expressing satisfaction of works done Mehriban Aliyeva said the heat system must be commissioned before the weather is cold. Head of the district executive power Nazim Ismailov said construction-installation works have already started and this problem will be settled in coming month.
Class teacher Fasila Abbasova with 40-eay pedagogic activity, applied to the President of the Foundation: we all are glad for such a high-level repair of this school, renovation of all appliances. This inspires us to work well. Thank You so much for all works done. Shamakhy people will always remember the meetings President Ilham Aliyev and You held in the district. Many problems in the district are settled after Your visits. The district management is also attentive about appeals of people, big reconstruction works are underway, there are many positive innovations in villages.
Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva stressed that 25 boarding schools and kindergartens have been overhauled so far at the expense of the Foundation, adding this work will be further continued.
It makes me glad that the children will go to such schools, and teachers will have favorable conditions here. This is also what our President wants and aims for. You have already such conditions. Work harder, keep clean your school and teach the pupils the same.
Then, Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated the gathered on the start of the new academic year, and then had her photo taken with them.
The First Lady was presented a photo album consisting of photographs of her visits to Shamakhi together with President Ilham Aliyev, the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation as well as the images of Shamakhi`s cultural and historic monuments.

Next meeting the President of the Foundation held in the district caused happiness of 16 young IDP families, their natives. An old building in center of the city that was before building of the dormitory of the boarding school was fundamentally reconstructed and changed into 2-room flats each covering 52 sq.m, equipped with kitchen, bed furniture, gas ovens, fridge and other necessary devices and given to young IDP families living under hard conditions.
It also was initiated by Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva. She visited here during her visit to Shamakhy last year, saw the difficult circumstance of IDPs and said all this will fully be changed.
Mehriban Aliyeva toured the flats, viewed the rooms with permanent gas, hot and cold water, reliable light system, shared her delight of conditions created here with owners of flats, presented keys and orders of the flats to IDPs from Agdam, Lachin and Kelbejer districts. Families feeling happiness expressed best wishes and thanks to Mrs Aliyeva, the President of Azerbaijan and their children.
Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva stressed President Ilham Aliyev is doing his best to create the conditions for internally displaced persons to return to their homeland, adding she believes these efforts will be a success.
The UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador had her photo taken with the inmates of the new apartments and IDPs, was guest of Agdam resident Chichek Shahmammadova who invited her to the tea table.
The 160-seat new school in Sagyan village, one of beautiful villages in Shamakhy, was a worthy contribution of Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the villagers in the new school year.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation included construction of new building here in `New school to new Azerbaijan` program after the monitoring held because of cracks in the building of the old school in which the study was dangerous. New school was built in short time in one of the most beautiful site of the village, equipped with new appliances, computers, library with necessary literature.
Words `Future progress, multilateral development of Azerbaijan depends much on high-level education of children and youth` of great leader Heydar Aliyev were written on the entry door of the school. The board at the lobby reflected President Ilham Aliyev`s words `Every youth studying at the secondary school must get high literacy, possess perfect knowledge to effectively serve our native motherland, country and strengthen potential of Azerbaijan`.
Mehriban Aliyeva was welcomed with flowers at the yard of the school. She first saw the board on projects Heydar Aliyev Foundation implemented in the district, construction works done. Head of the district executive power informed the 200-seat new school buildings were built by initiative of the Foundation in Chayly, Gushchu, Galeybugurd and Ikinji Jabany villages, in some of them basic repair and construction works are continued.
Mrs Aliyeva took interest in quality of construction, appliances and pedagogic personnel, saw library and computer room.
Director Viktor Aliyev gave best wishes of the staff to Mrs Aliyeva, said the new school inspired the teachers and pupils.
Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated teachers, pupils and villagers on commissioning of the new school, gave greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to all people of Shamakhy. She said such new educational centers will further be built in every point of the country and Heydar Aliyev Foundation will be in forefront of these works.
